Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Mobile 6 ActiveSync over Bluetooth
One of the main reasons for using Bluetooth is to synchronising your PDA wirelessly to your PC. This is quick and easy to setup.
Requirements
Windows XP with Bluetooth Windows Mobile with Bluetooth
Procedure
- Before you begin you need to pair your PC and Windows Mobile device. Instructions on doing that are here.
- On the Windows PC, enter Bluetooth settings and choose the Com Ports tab

- Click the button Add... and choose to create a new Incoming port and Press OK.

- Windows will now create a new virtual com port. Wait while it does that.
When complete, take careful note of the Com port number that it has used... in this example it is 3.

- Open ActiveSync, then choose File, Connection Settings.
Enable the option to "Allow connections to one of the following" and select Com3. Press OK.

- On the PDA, go to the Bluetooth settings and find the Connection for your PC. Tap and hold to get the menu and choose Edit.

- The list will be blank. Tap Refresh to update the services now available.

- ActiveSync should now be listed. Select and tap save.
If serial port is shown, then you haven't updated ActiveSync. If nothing continues to be shown, go back to the PC and deselect the option in ActiveSync to use a Com Port and OK out of the window. Then go back in and enable it again.

- You are now ready to Sync.
ActiveSync over Bluetooth is something that you have to start on the PDA device. Therefore, on the PDA, open ActiveSync. Tap Menu in the lower right corner and choose Connect via Bluetooth. The screenshot is from a PDA used with Exchange ActiveSync which is already connected.

- The PDA will start to Connect.

- Note that the device does not disconnect once the sync is complete, so you will need to remember to disconnect. Using the same menu as before, tap disconnect.
