Windows XP Clear Type

Clear type is a new technology that debuted in Windows XP but is also used in other Microsoft products such as the Pocket PC handhelds. It significantly improves the appearance of text on your screen, especially if you have an LCD display.

This features needs to be enabled first, and then to get the best from the function it needs to be tuned.

There are two ways to tune the Clear Type Settings

Online

Microsoft have produced an online tuner which uses an ActiveX control. This online guide steps you through the process of enabling and then adjusting the settings:

Control Panel Applet

Microsoft have also introduced a Control Panel applet as part of their Power Toys for Windows XP. This download will put an additional icon in to your Control Panel to adjust the feature.
