Are Your SSL Certificates Installed Correctly?

If you are using an SSL certificate from Go Daddy (http://www.certificatesforexchange.com/) and the SSL certificate appears to work on Internet Explorer, but you continue to get error messages on a Windows Mobile device, then you probably don't have the certificates installed correctly.

You can quickly see if the Go Daddy supplied SSL certificates are installed correctly using the following test on Internet Explorer on a desktop machine.

Browse to your SSL enabled site using Internet Explorer. Double Click on the yellow lock icon.
Click on the third tab "Certification Path" and look at the path.
If you only have three steps in the path, then the intermediate and root certificate is not installed correctly on the server.
If you have four steps, then it is correct. See the screenshots below:
